Welcome to the IPFCWhat is IPFC? Well, it's an acronym that MaskedNicci (of www.phantomoftheopera.com) came up with one day, whilst thinking of how cruel some characters in stories are marred and twisted in fanfiction and such. It stands for the Institution for the Protection of Fictional Characters. It's NOT a club. It's a movement. We long to bring these lovable (and not so lovable) characters back to their original form. It may not be much to you, but it's important to us.
It is understandable if you changed your character to befit your fanfiction. But there is a fine line between altering them into something that will match, and turning the character's basic principles around. Those who agree can join. This is NOT a club, but an attempt to bring back characters to their original personalities. You are only required to stay firm in the belief that the very things that we love these fictional people for should not be altered.
I don't think everyone is going to agree with us, in fact, I know it won't be so. But I would like the majority of fanfiction to be a well-earned story, detailing how YOU believe it could have happened.
This Institution is for ALL fiction, Phantom of the Opera, Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings...anything that receives fanfiction. As of this posting, we have nearly 100 members on poto.com.
We have over 100 members on poto.com, and many other groups on other forums. I'll try to have a link section up soon.
The idea behind the DA division of IPFC is that people can submit their in-character fanart and fanfiction to the gallery.
